WNSP Athlete of the Week: Lillie Stagner, Faith Acadmy

Each week during the Road to the Alabama High School State Championships, Mark, Lee, and Michael will feature an “Athlete of the Week” right here!

With our Road to the Alabama High School State Championships fully underway, the next stop the Opening Kickoff made was at Faith Academy where our Athlete of the Week is junior Lillie Stagner!

Lillie is a softball star for the Rams at the plate and in the field. Longtime Faith softball coach Rae Lynn Davis talked about Stagner’s value in both the field and at the plate.

Lillie has been doing incredible things at the plate since she was in seventh grade and has played varsity softball since then.

She is hitting for a .508 batting average so far this season with five doubles, six triples, seven home runs, 31 RBIs, and 39 runs scored.

Lillie told us of a game earlier this season when both her and her sister hit grand slams in the same game. Her sister, who is in seventh grade, hit one earlier in the game and when she came to the plate with runners on second and third, she was intentionally walked.

Lillie took this as motivation and hit the team’s second grand slam of the game with her sister on first base.

She plans to attend South Alabama to play at the next level where her older sister already is, also a Faith Academy alum and softball star.

The Rams are currently 17-12 this season and currently preparing for a playoff push.

Congratulations to Lillie Stagner on being named our WNSP Athlete of the Week!
