Daphne superstar softball player Vic Moten, who is committed to play for Alabama, was named 2024’s ‘Miss Softball’ by the Alabama Sports Writers Association winner after a stellar season that saw the Trojans fall just short of a Blue Map.
The prestigious honor was awarded at a ceremony in Jacksonville this past weekend.
Throughout the entire state, Moten had the best Earned Run Average (ERA) in Class 7A with a staggering 0.46. She also recorded a mind-boggling 35 wins with 22 of them being shutouts, 17 being no-hitters, and 3 being perfect games. She also struck out batters 463 times.
“Vic is absolutely invaluable to our team,” Daphne coach Jenny Laird said during an April appearance on WNSP. “She is our ace in the circle and an integral part of our batting lineup as well. We know that when she’s in the circle, she’s gonna give us a great shot to get the win regardless of who is in the other dugout.
Moten was also named Class 7A Player of the Year and Gatorade Player of the Year. Much to hitters in Mobile and Baldwin Counties dismay, Moten still has another year in school before she heads off to Tuscaloosa to play for the Crimson Tide.
She will hope to carve up enough hitters to lead Daphne to a state championship in 2025.
