LEE SHIRVANIAN – OPENING KICKOFF
Lee Shirvanian has been covering sports throughout the greater Mobile area since 1980, establishing himself as one of the Gulf Coast’s most respected and recognizable voices in sports broadcasting. He has been a co-host of WNSP’s morning show since the mid-1990s.
Following a long career with WKRG, Lee became the play-by-play voice for South Alabama basketball, baseball, and football. His extensive broadcasting resume also includes high school football, University of Mobile and Spring Hill College basketball, Mobile Bay Sharks baseball, and the Senior Bowl.
In recognition of his contributions to sports broadcasting and the local sports community, Lee is a member of the Mobile Sports Hall of Fame.
MARK HEIM – OPENING KICKOFF
Mark Heim, a New Orleans native, serves as WNSP’s Program Director and host of The Opening Kickoff. With more than 15 years on the air at WNSP, Mark has become a familiar and respected voice in Gulf Coast sports.
In addition to his work in radio, Mark is a senior writer for AL.com, where he covers sports, news, and trending topics. His career in journalism began at The Montgomery Advertiser, where he worked from 1998 to 2000 before moving to Mobile to join The Press-Register as a writer, editor, and page designer.
Throughout his career, Mark has earned numerous awards and honors for his radio work, writing, headline writing, and page design from organizations including APSE, APME, ASWA, and Lagniappe.
Outside of work, Mark and his wife, Amy, enjoy spending time with their three children, Michael, Alex, and Stephen.
MICHAEL BRAUNER – OPENING KICKOFF/PXP
Michael Brauner has been a valued member of the WNSP team since graduating from the University of Alabama in 2022. A member of The Opening Kickoff, Michael has also co-hosted the afternoon drive and continues to bring his passion for sports to the airwaves.
In addition to his on-air responsibilities, Michael serves as WNSP’s play-by-play voice for high school football and is a co-host of The John Racciatti Golf Show.
A lifelong sports fan, Michael proudly supports the New England Patriots and Alabama Crimson Tide.
Taylor Tanner – SPORTS DRIVE
A Mobile native and South Alabama graduate, Taylor brings his passion for radio, sports, and entertainment to the Sound of Mobile.
Taylor handles afternoon hosting responsibilities from 3–6 p.m., while also playing an active role in station promotions, marketing, and web editing. Taylor is also a play-by-play voice for MCPSS-TV high school football and a contributor to the John Racciatti Golf Show and Inside Alabama Racing.
When he’s not behind the microphone, Taylor is cheering on the Green Bay Packers, South Alabama Jaguars, and, of course, following all things professional wrestling.
Andrew Spivey – SPORTS DRIVE
A Mobile native and Mary G. Montgomery High School graduate, Andrew brings a passion for sports and journalism to his work. He currently writes for GatorCountry.com, covering the Florida Gators and providing insight and analysis for its readers.
Outside of work, Andrew enjoys coaching his two sons in baseball and supporting his favorite Atlanta sports teams, with the Atlanta Braves holding a special place at the top of the list.
BENA BROWN – PIGLET
Bena has been a valued part of WNSP’s high school sports coverage for more than 13 years, working alongside the Pigskin Pete Show and bringing his experience and passion for local athletics to the airwaves.
Born and raised in Daphne, Bena retired from the power company after 35 years of service. Retirement has given him more time to pursue two of his favorite pastimes: playing golf and umpiring girls’ softball.
A former college baseball player himself, Bena is also a proud father of two sons and grandfather to three grandchildren. When he’s not on the golf course or behind the plate, you can find him cheering on his beloved Auburn Tigers.
BRIAN GENARD – PREP SPOTLIGHT/ COLOR COMMENTARY / PIGLET
Brian Genard has been a familiar voice in local high school sports since moving to Mobile in 1994 to help launch the Mobile Mysticks hockey team. When the team later relocated to Gwinnett, Brian chose to make Mobile his home.
In 2008, Brian began roaming the sidelines alongside Pigskin Pete at high school football games throughout Mobile and Baldwin counties as one of the original “Piglets,” providing live in-game updates and scores.
In 2016, Brian moved from the sidelines to the broadcast booth, beginning his play-by-play career alongside Lee Shirvanian. Today, he continues calling games with Michael Brauner, bringing his knowledge, enthusiasm, and love of local sports to each broadcast.
In 2019, Brian expanded his role with WNSP by joining Pigskin Pete as co-host of Prep Spotlight, further establishing himself as an important part of the station’s high school sports coverage.
TOMMY PRAYTOR – INSIDE ALABAMA RACING
A lifelong racing fan, Tommy Praytor’s passion for motorsports was taken to another level after getting behind the wheel at the Richard Petty Driving Experience. What started as a love of racing quickly became a career spanning more than 30 years and virtually every level of motorsports, from local racing to ARCA, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Xfinity Series, and Cup Series.
Throughout his career, Praytor has taken on nearly every role in the sport, including driver, crew chief, spotter, public relations representative, and team owner. He also served as promoter of the ARCA Mobile 200, helping bring NASCAR-sanctioned racing back to Mobile for the first time in 54 years. From track announcer and pace car driver to public relations and even ticket taker, there are few jobs at a racetrack Tommy hasn’t experienced.
Praytor has hosted WNSP’s Inside Alabama Racing for 27 years. He has also hosted ARCA Racing This Week on the Outdoor Channel and served as a color analyst for ARCA television and radio broadcasts from Talladega Superspeedway.
Away from the track, Tommy is the broker of Praytor Properties. His son, Thomas “MOOSE” Praytor, is also a regular contributor to Inside Alabama Racing, keeping the family’s passion for motorsports alive.
JOHN RACCIATTI – MILLER LITE GOLF SHOW
John Racciatti has been a leading voice in Gulf Coast golf since 1997, when he began hosting the John Racciatti Golf Show. Over the years, John has established himself as one of the Gulf Coast’s most influential figures in the game, combining his passion for golf with his extensive knowledge of the sport.
John serves as an ambassador for Gulf Distributing Company and Callaway Golf and is the director of the Lite Scratch Tour, a premier home for many of the Gulf Coast’s top amateur golfers. An accomplished player himself, John carries a 1 handicap and played collegiate golf at the University of Southern Mississippi, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing.
John lives in Point Clear with his wife, Dara, and their two children, Catherine and John Jr.
TIM TAYLOR – PIGSKIN PETE
Tim Taylor, affectionately known as Pigskin Pete, has been a familiar voice on WNSP’s Friday night high school football broadcasts since 1994. With decades of experience covering local athletics, Tim has become a respected and recognizable figure in Gulf Coast sports broadcasting.
His radio career began in LaGrange, Georgia, in 1986, where he covered high school sports while attending Auburn University. Following graduation, Tim worked as a sports anchor for TV33 in LaGrange from 1990 to 1993 before moving to Mobile.
After relocating to Mobile, Tim began a career as a financial advisor with Edward Jones Investments in 1993 and soon joined WNSP, where he found his home covering high school football and connecting with sports fans across the Gulf Coast.
Outside of broadcasting, Tim is a husband and proud father of two children, Landon and Reagan.
SCOTT TODD – PIGLET
A proud Mobile native and two-time Auburn University graduate, Scott has been a familiar voice in WNSP’s high school football coverage since 2003. Over the years, he has covered games from the sidelines, the press box, and the radio studio, bringing a passion for local sports to every broadcast.
Scott’s love of sports extends well beyond the broadcast booth. His wife, Robin, and daughters, Mackinley and Mia, have supported his enthusiasm for experiencing sports at every level. His travels have taken him to a college football championship game, a College World Series, two Final Fours, five Masters Tournaments, more than a dozen Major League Baseball parks, and more than two dozen college football stadiums.
ALAN WHITE – WNSP OUTDOORS
Alan White is a passionate outdoorsman, conservationist, and wildlife manager with a lifelong commitment to Alabama’s great outdoors. He is the founder of Great Days Outdoors Magazine and a past recipient of the Alabama Governor’s Conservation Communicator of the Year Award.
Alan also serves on the Board of Directors for the Alabama Turkey Hunters Hall of Fame, continuing his work to promote conservation and preserve Alabama’s rich outdoor heritage.
For more than 15 years, Alan has brought his knowledge and passion for hunting, fishing, wildlife, and conservation to the airwaves as host of the WNSP Outdoors Radio Show.
