Every week on the Tobias & Comer Coaches’ Corner, Mark, Lee and Michael will talk to a local area high school coach to get the scoop on what’s going on with their team, how our local schools are faring on their respective pushes to bring Blue Maps back to the Gulf Coast, and everything in between.
In this week’s edition, we caught up with Mobile Christian head coach Charles Lawson coming off the Leopards huge 12-7 victory over Cottage Hill to start region play on the right foot and establish themselves as a team to beat in Class A Region 1.
“It started in the spring, we could see we had a different team. We had a great summer,” Lawson said of what he saw from his team before the year began to know this year could see more success than past years. “We’re just taking it game by game and try to be here in December playing at Hancock-Whitney.”
With a game coming up against Northside Methodist Academy this week, Mobile Christian will try to stay hot before a late season potential crash course with Bayside Academy which could wind up deciding the region.
The Leopards are clearly a team folks have to pay attention to, and though it’s early in the year, Coach Lawson currently has his team firing on all cylinders and will try to make a deep postseason run.
