The announcement came during a timeout in South Alabama’s men’s basketball game against Southern Miss. Major Applewhite made the announcement as he led the team onto the court during a timeout where they were recognized for their victory over Western Michigan in the Salute to Veterans Bowl this past December.
Pritchett, a two-time All-Sun Belt Conference selection, helped lead South to three consecutive bowl appearances. He also received the 2023 Offensive MVP at the 2023 68 Ventures Bowl, South’s first-ever bowl win.
This past season, Pritchett took another huge leap becoming one of the country’s top playmakers. He finished the season with 1,126 yards, nine touchdowns, and 91 receptions. He would tie South’s single-season record for touchdowns and receptions. His 93.8 receiving yards per game led the conference, and nationally, he ranked in the top 10 in receptions per game and receiving yards.
Pritchett will remain in Mobile just a little while longer as he prepares for Senior Bowl week, the week of practices, and the game on Feb. 1, here at Hancock Whitney Stadium.
