South Alabama Men’s Basketball Falls in Regular Season Finale to Southern Miss

South Alabama could not get anything going against Southern Miss as they lose on senior night 68-55, and finish with the sixth seed for the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.

The Jags did not have a good night shooting as they shot just 33% from the field and 18% from 3-point range. On the other side, Southern Miss shot 45% from the field and 42% from beyond the arc.

Chaze Harris scored 23 points and added nine rebounds. His game last night helps add to his Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year case.

Southern Miss outrebounded the Jags 43-30 with help from Djahi Binet’s 12 boards. Binet finished with a double-double, scoring 13 points.

It was a big night for Southern Miss’s Chiante’ Tramble who had 18 points and five 3-pointers. Tramble averaged just three points a game on the season.

South Alabama honored five seniors last night for their final home game at the Mitchell Center. Chaze Harris, Hantz Louis-Jeune, JJ Wheat, Maxwell Land and Randy Brady all played their last games at the Mitchell Center in front of a big home crowd.

The Jags will now have to win four games in four days at the Sun Belt tournament in Pensacola, in order to make it to the NCAA tournament. Their first game is on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
