SEC Media Days: Day One Recap

Texas A&M football head coach Jimbo Fisher speaks to the media at the 2023 SEC Football Kickoff, Monday July 17,2023 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Nashville,Tn . (Jimmie Mitchell/SEC)

Day one of SEC Media Days concluded yesterday with LSU, Missouri, and Texas A&M getting the week kicked off. Brian Kelly was the first to take the podium, and he echoed a sentiment of the fact that year one was one of learning for him and that he was “still figuring out” how to coach in the SEC. It was certainly a pretty great “learning year” as the Tigers won the SEC West and played for an SEC Championship.

For Texas A&M, the big story was obviously Jimbo Fisher. He dodged questions as to whether he is on the hot seat as well as not giving any answer of substance on what the role of newly hired Bobby Petrino will be with the offense.

And finally, for Missouri, the question becomes can Eli Drinkwitz get things on track? He is 17-19 in his three seasons in Columbia, and eventually, his time will run out if the Tigers continue to be in the basement of the SEC.
