It was Alabama day in Nashville on Wednesday afternoon, with Nick Saban and company taking the podium along with Sam Pittman and Arkansas, Mark Stoops and Kentucky, and Billy Napier and Florida. With Saban starting the day off, he shut down questions about the quarterback room quickly, calling it a three man race where no one has yet separated themselves.
Sam Pittman talked about how proud he is of the progress the Arkansas program has made in his time there, but that they also still have a long way to go. His two stars, QB KJ Jefferson and RB Raheim “Rocket” Sanders, echoed a similar sentiment.
For Florida, the pressure is on Billy Napier, whether it is fair or not. The fans in Gainesville expect a team that competes, and thus far, that has not been the case in the Napier era for Florida. Napier spoke of the resources he is provided and that there is no reason not to field a competitive team.
Kentucky is a tough one to figure out. Has Mark Stoops reached a ceiling in Lexington as to what the program can be, or could the Wildcats surprise everyone and compete in the SEC East this season? New quarterback Devin Leary of NC State will go a long way towards figuring that out.
