Week two of the high school football season has come and gone, and the Pigskin Pete crew has named a new Bryant Bank Player of the Week.
This week, our player of the week is McGill-Toolen running back Jack Lenaghan. In the Yellow Jackets’ tenth straight victory over arch-rival Murphy, Lenaghan carried the ball 14 times for 102 yards and 2 touchdowns as well as three receptions for another 62 yards.
He also made a huge impact on special teams, blocking a punt which teammate Brandon Gipson would return for a touchdown in the 33-6 victory over the Panthers.
“Jack played extremely well,” head coach David Faulker said on Monday’s Opening Kickoff, adding that he is usually a wide receiver but circumstances forced him to play tailback this week. “We like him on the perimeter because of the big play ability that he gives us out there, but if need or it’s in the game plan he can definitely play some running back.”
With it absolutely needed this week, Lenaghan stepped up and helped his team defeat their biggest rival once again as the Yellow Jacket faithful got to paint the cannon orange once again.
McGill will face off against Theodore this Friday in a game that will be broadcast on WSNP.
