Well, we finally know the “when” in the age-old question of “When will Aaron Rodgers retire?”
The 42-year-old Quarterback announced Wednesday that the 2026 NFL season would be his last. This comes just days after announcing his return to the Pittsburgh Steelers for the 2026 season on a 1 year contract.
Rodgers enters his final year with more than 66,000 career passing yard and 527 career Touchdown passes. The signal caller who has spent time with the Green Bay Packers, New York Jets, and Pittsburgh Steelers ranks 5th all time in Passing Yards and would need a record breaking season (or to come back for another year in 2027) to climb any higher.
In an enigmatic career, Rodgers has done it all. Rodgers hoisted the Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl XLV (45), he won the NFL’s Most Valuable Player award 4 times (2011, 2014, 2020, 2021), he was selected All-Pro 5 times, and was elected to 10 Pro Bowls all in his time with the Green Bay Packers. He tore an achilles just minutes into his debut with the New York Jets in an era of his career that will be likely to be quickly forgotten. Now, he wraps things up with the Pittsburgh Steelers. A “last dance” if you will.
The 42-year-old reunites with former Packers and now Pittsburgh Steeler head coach Mike McCarthy this season who was hired by the franchise following the departure of longtime head coach Mike Tomlin.
One last ride is ahead in 2026 for Aaron Rodgers.
