High school football is officially back on the Gulf Coast!
Every week on the Joe Bullard Chevrolet Pigskin Pete Scoreboard show, our Friday night crew will be naming the Joe Bullard Team/Coach of the Week, given to the team and coach that had the best performance of the week in the face of adversity in our coverage area across the Gulf Coast.
This week on the fourth Friday night of the season, the crew decided to hand the honor to the Gulf Shores Dolphins and head coach Mark Hudspeth after their huge win against the McGill-Toolen Yellow Jackets for their first victory of the season after some bad luck over the first few games.
Dropping games to Choctawhatchee (FL), Mary G. Montgomery, and Saraland gave the Dolphins which was as tough a start as anyone in the state, but they did not shy away from the challenge to pick up a huge victory in region play over a much improved McGill team by a score of 10-6.
Despite the 1-3 record, Gulf Shores is now 1-1 in 6A Region 1, giving themselves a chance to make a playoff push if they can keep up the strong play. This week, it’s another home game against Blount before a bye week and a road trip to face off against St. Paul’s.
Congratulations to the Gulf Shores Dolphins and head coach Mark Hudspeth on being named this week’s Joe Bullard Chevrolet Team/Coach of the Week and best of luck the rest of the way in their 2025 season!
