Which quarterback will lead Auburn’s offense?

UPDATE — see below.

For more than half a year football fans in Alabama discussed who would win the quarterback job at Auburn.
There was an incumbent starter, Sean White, who led the Tigers to six straight wins last season.
Then there was the incoming hotshot, Jarrett Stidham, who had all the credentials from high school and briefly as a starter at Baylor.
Two weeks into fall camp, Gus Malzahn announced that Stidham had won the job. But did he?
We later learned that White would be suspended for the first two games of the season for unnamed violations. Therefore, the announcement that Stidham had won the job wasn’t entirely true. Even if White had been considerable better, Stidham was going to be the starter in the first two games while White served his suspension.
Now that White is back, should we be asking again which Auburn quarterback is going to win the job?
Certainly, Stidham and White should both get plenty of snaps against an overmatched Mercer team Saturday.
Could that be a competition to determine who leads the Tigers the rest of the season?
Nobody is saying that Stidham is in danger of losing the job. But, then, nobody was saying there wasn’t really a true competition in the preseason.

UPDATE: White is out at Auburn.

“Sean White is no longer a part of our football program at Auburn,” coach Gus Malzahn said in a statement. “He has made poor decisions that are not in the best interest of our program, and more importantly, himself. We appreciate his time at Auburn and wish him nothing but the best.”

White was arrested Sunday morning for public intoxication.
