Spanish Fort Baseball Falls Short of State Title

The Spanish Fort Toros fell just short of a state title after losing both games of a best of 3, winner take all, 6A state championship series to the Oxford Yellow Jackets. The Toros fell 6-5 in a game one thriller, but game two this morning was unfortunately not as close, with Oxford winning decisively by a score of 12-3 to claim the Blue Map.

Spanish Fort will return home to the Gulf Coast with a Red Map after their first appearance in the state championship since 2014. The Toros were on an absolutely dominant run of championships in that era, winning state titles in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2014.

J.D. Pruitt has led the program since 2018 and did a phenomenal job this season in getting the Toros back to where they are used to in playing for a state championship, but ultimately the 38-6 Yellow Jackets proved too much to overcome.

Spanish Fort finishes the season with a record of 29-19.
