Only 3 Remain: UMS, St. Paul’s, McGill last local contenders

MOBILE, AL (WNSP) —And then there were three.

After the latest round of the playoffs, only three teams from this area remain in the AHSAA playoffs, and one punched its ticket to the final.

Spanish Fort, Mobile Christian and St. Luke’s all lost this past Friday, eliminating Mobile and Baldwin County from contention in their respective classes.

Vigor also lost to Demopolis 35-14, but St. Paul’s has a chance at avenging the local loss. If the Saints win, they will move on to the finals in Tuscaloosa.

UMS-Wright is in a similar situation. The Bulldogs travel to take on Andalusia this weekend, and the winner of that game earns a spot in the 4A Finals.

One team from this area is already headed to the state finals matchup: McGill-Toolen. With its 27-26 win over Central-Phenix City, the Jackets advanced to the 7A Finals in Auburn December 6, when they play Hoover in a rematch of last year’s finals.
