On paper, Bama’s dominance is unmatched

The numbers can get to be a little mind-numbing. But a quick look at the SEC and national stats as Alabama enters its bye weekend need to be examined and appreciated.
Through eight games, Alabama is winning by an average score of 43-10. Actually, the Tide has yielded only 9.8 points per game, which will be No. 1 in the country after tomorrow’s games if Penn State gives up more than 12 points to Ohio State and Washington yields more than 4 points to UCLA.
The 43 points scored per game is the best in the SEC by a full 5 points over next-best Georgia.
In fact, despite the emergence of Texas A&M, LSU and even Mississippi State, the pecking order at the top of the SEC is very clear.
Alabama has won each week by a score of 43-10. Georgia follows at 38-13. Then comes Auburn at 36-16.
Georgia and Auburn are likely the two teams with the best chance to derail Alabama’s march toward another national playoff appearance. But based on the statistics through the first eight games, the Tide has never been in a better position to continue its dominance through the stretch run.
