Every week on the Joe Bullard Chevrolet Pigskin Pete Scoreboard show, our Friday night crew will be naming the Joe Bullard Team/Coach of the Week, given to the team and coach that had the best performance of the week in the face of adversity in our coverage area across the Gulf Coast.
This week, the distinct honor of team/coach of the week goes to the St. Paul’s Saints and head coach Ham Barnett! The Saints just earned yet another victory on Friday, this time over Gulf Shores by a score of 26-14. St. Paul’s is now 6-0 for the first time since 2020 and the first time ever since they have been in 6A. It’s Barnett’s strongest start as well now in his third season.
Sitting at 4-0 in region play, everything is ahead of this team as they look to establish themselves as a prime contender to make a deep playoff run once again.
The Saints have an absolutely massive showdown with Saraland this week in a game that will likely determine who wins Class 6A Region 1, also known as the toughest region in the state. The Saints are 0-5 all time against the Spartans with the last two games ending in blowouts, but with undefeated momentum and the game being at St. Paul’s, they certainly have a chance.
Congratulations to the St. Paul’s Saints and head coach Ham Barnett on being named this week’s Joe Bullard Chevrolet Team/Coach of the Week!
