Joe Bullard Chevrolet Team/Coach of the Week: St. Michael

Every week on the Joe Bullard Chevrolet Pigskin Pete Scoreboard show, our Friday night crew will be naming the Joe Bullard Team/Coach of the Week, given to the team and coach that had the best performance of the week in the face of adversity in our coverage area across the Gulf Coast.

This week, the big honor goes to the St. Michael Cardinals and head coach Phillip Rivers who are currently in the midst of the deepest playoff run in school history after a second round road victory over Pleasant Grove. The Cardinals defeated Pleasant Grove by a score of 38-24 and now go on the road once again to face Fairfield as they try to make it into the semifinals.

The first round victory over Handley was the first playoff win the program has ever had, and now for each win the Cardinals secure they are making history.

The Cardinals are led by an aerial attack quarterbacked by Rivers’ son Gunner, who has become one of the best signal callers on the Gulf Coast and led an electric St. Michael offense that throws the ball all over the place.

Congratulations to the St. Michael Cardinals and head coach Phillip Rivers on being named this week’s Joe Bullard Chevrolet Team/Coach of the Week and best of luck in their third round game!
