The second round of the playoffs in the state of Alabama has come and gone, and the Pigskin Pete crew has named a new Bryant Bank Player of the Week.
This week, the big honor goes to UMS Wright Bulldogs junior defensive back David Lott. In the Bulldogs huge 7-6 victory over Andalusia, Lott made a tremendous impact. Not only did Lott have a game-sealing interception at the end of the game, but his blocked extra point on Andalusia’s only touchdown wound up being the deciding play after UMS held them scoreless for the rest of the night.
“David has turned into a really good football player,” head coach Terry Curtis said on The Opening Kickoff, sharing that he joined the team before the season after their starting free safety was injured. “This has been one of the most fun teams I’ve ever coached…We’re just a team that comes to work every day and we prepare, practice, and play.”
The Bulldogs will hit the road this week but won’t have to travel far, taking on the Vigor Wolves for a spot in the semifinal in a game that will be the biggest challenge they have faced yet.
