Every week on the Joe Bullard Chevrolet Pigskin Pete Scoreboard show, our Friday night crew will be naming the Joe Bullard Team/Coach of the Week, given to the team and coach that had the best performance of the week in the face of adversity in our coverage area across the Gulf Coast.
For our third Friday night of the season, the Foley Lions and head coach Deric Scott receive the honor! Scott and his Lions defeated Robertsdale on the road, who were a surprise 2-0 to begin the year, to get to 3-0 for the first time since 2015. It is the fifth season at Foley for Scott and this is his best best start yet.
Last season, the Lions just missed the playoffs after finishing 5-5 which was good for fifth in 7A Region 1. Now just three games into the 2024 season, Scott has his team only two wins away from already equaling last year’s number. In week one, the Lions defeated Baldwin County on the road and B.C. Rain at home.
This week, they will be hosting Daphne, who are off to a 2-1 start and coming off a loss to Mary G. Montgomery last week in what promises to be a huge region clash at Foley on Friday night.
Congratulations to the Foley Lions and head coach Deric Scott on being named this week’s Joe Bullard Team/Coach of the Week!
