Every week on the Joe Bullard Chevrolet Pigskin Pete Scoreboard show, our Friday night crew will be naming the Joe Bullard Team/Coach of the Week, given to the team and coach that had the best performance of the week in the face of adversity in our coverage area across the Gulf Coast.
For our fifth Friday night of the season, the winner of the honor this week is the Alma Bryant Hurricanes and head coach Bart Sessions! Bryant earned their first win of the season via a 25-19 victory over Davidson in what was a huge 7A Region 1 victory to get to 1-2 in region play. The Hurricanes were 0-3 and had lost eight games in a row dating back to last season including six region games.
Last season, one of those losses down the stretch was a 34-19 defeat against the same Davidson team at home, but this time around, the Hurricanes took care of business on the road to grab the huge win.
Moving forward, things don’t get easier for Alma Bryant, with a home matchup against Citronelle before back-to-back region matchups against Daphne and Mary G. Montgomery.
