We are ripping through high school football season on the Gulf Coast this season and this week marks another edition of the Greer’s Markets Game of the Week taking us out to St. Michael for their massive region matchup against Jackson.
Both teams are undefeated in region play with the St. Michael Cardinals sitting at 5-0 overall and Jackson at 5-1 with their only loss coming against 6A powerhouse Saraland in the first game of the season in what was a very close game. Jackson is 2-0 in the region while St. Michael is 3-0 with a signature Aggies win coming in dominating fashion over Mobile Christian.
Jackson has two victories while playing up, one coming against 5A Demopolis and another against 7A Baker on the road. The Aggies are led by star quarterback Landon Duckworth and star running back EJ Crowell, two of the best in the country at their positions. The Cardinals, meanwhile, have been putting up ridiculous numbers through the air with an aerial attack led by Gunner Rivers.
The two sides have only faced off four times in their histories with the Cardinals claiming victory two years ago in 2021 but Jackson winning the last two. Many are saying this game could determine who comes out on top in Region 1 in Class 4A, so the stakes will be tremendously high in Fairhope on Friday night.
