Week five of the high school football season has come and gone, and the Pigskin Pete crew has named a new Bryant Bank Player of the Week.
This week, the honor goes to Cottage Hill linebacker Shadarius Toodle. As one of the best players in the area and committed to play for Auburn, Toodle had an absolutely dominant performance on both sides of the ball to help the Warriors earn their first win of the season in a dominating 41-0 victory over Choctaw County.
Toodle led the defense in the shutout victory with a ridiculous 19 tackles including a sack, holding the Tigers to less than 50 yards of offense. Toodle had a special effort on the offensive side of the ball, catching five passes for 80 yards and adding a rushing touchdown for good measure.
Warriors head coach Carvel Jones joined the Opening Kickoff on Monday to talk about Toodle’s performance and his defense as a whole helping to grab the first win.
“He’s a kid that comes in week in and week out and he’s been playing some high level football now all year,” Jones said. “Anytime you hold a team to zero, you wish there was an award that the whole team could have. We had three turnovers and held them to about 40 yards. Shadarius of course leads the defense but the defense as a whole was incredible.”
The Warriors will take on TR Miller at home this week.
