Week five has come and gone on the Gulf Coast, and with it, high school football season is officially in full swing with the best time of year that we all wait for finally now here!
Every week during the season, Pigskin Pete and his crew on the Friday night Green and Phillips Pigskin Scoreboard show select an athlete from one of the teams that we cover and name them the Bryant Bank Player of the Week for their outstanding performance and helping their team to get the victory.
This week, the honor went to Foley Lions quarterback Judah Spencer for his massive night in Foley’s thrilling 48-45 victory against the Baker Hornets. Spencer accounted for five touchdowns, four through the air as well as the winning score on the ground with his legs. On third and goal from the five-yard line, Spencer got to the corner and dove for the pylon to get his team the win.
“As a staff we knew this game was really important to try to be competitive in the region,” Lions head coach Bryan Moore said of the win after praising the incredible performance of Spencer. Just as any great coach though in his first year, he knows it’s time to turn the page quickly.
“For us to be able to bounce back and get right back to work is huge…this place has so much promise.”
Foley is now 3-2 on the season including a 2-1 start to region play with an open week coming up before they have to get ready for Davidson the following week and Daphne right after that.
The is the first Bryant Bank POW for the Lions since Kolton Nero won the award back in 2023.
