Week eight of the high school football season has come and gone, and the Pigskin Pete crew has named a new Bryant Bank Player of the Week.
This week, the honor goes to B.C. Rain running back Emerian Davis who had a massive night rushing the ball to help the Red Raiders earn a big win Thursday night over Faith Academy. Davis account for 273 all purpose yards including 226 of them coming on the ground as well as four touchdowns to keep the Red Raiders’ playoff hopes alive.
On top of the huge rushing performance, head coach Lawrence Yelding told the Opening Kickoff on Monday morning that Davis also blocked a punt on special teams.
“He’s just been playing really really good for us when we have needed someone to step up,” Yelding said. “He’s giving us a chance week in and week out to go and be successful, so it’s a very deserving award for this young man.”
On the heels of the 52-28 victory over Faith, the Red Raiders playoff hopes remain alive by a thread. The team will have to defeat undefeated Vigor next week as well as hope for a UMS Wright loss to Faith Academy.
