Auburn turning to great athlete on the offensive line

The player who has apparently won the starting left tackle position for Auburn arrived at campus wearing jersey No. 42 with only one year of football experience.

As a defensive end.

At a small AISA private school in Elmore County.
But the emergence of Prince Tega Wanogho Jr. is a sure sign of the changing nature of college football.
Wanogho is an athlete. That’s quickly evident to anyone who’s seen the 6-foot-7, 305-pound sophomore.
He looks and moves more like a star basketball player or swimmer — both of which he was — than a mauling, grinding, dirty offensive lineman of the 1980s.

With Wanogho in the lineup, All-American Braden Smith can remain at his natural position of guard, which is another plus.
Of course the real test for Wanogho will come when he faces all-star ends Christian Wilkins and Clelin Ferrell at Clemson in week 2.
Then, we’ll all see exactly how far Wanogho’s athletic ability can take him.
