The postseason of college baseball is officially underway after conference tournaments have wrapped up and the NCAA Tournament is now upon us with the road to Omaha getting started on Friday.

In order to get to the College World Series, teams have to make it through both a four-team regional and a super regional, with the former being a four-team double elimination round robin and the latter a best-of-three matchup.

With 16 total regionals, there is a limited number of teams who can host, however half of those 16 are going to be played on SEC campuses.

All four of the top seeds are from the SEC along with five of the top-six, and one of those hosts is the Auburn Tigers.

The No. 4 seeded Tigers — tied for highest seed in program history — host a regional which includes a matchup this Friday against Central Connecticut. The other two teams headed to The plains are North Carolina State and Stetson, who will face off that afternoon to see who goes to an elimination game.

As for the Alabama Crimson Tide, they have quite the challenge on their hands after landing the No. 17 overall seed and just out of hosting territory.

They head to Hattiesburg for a regional which includes Southern Miss, Columbia, and Miami. Alabama faces Miami Friday night to try to get started on the right foot.

Should the Tide earn the right to go through though, they are likely to get the reward of a super regional in Nashville against the No. 1 overall seeded Vanderbilt Commodores.

Alabama is trying to get back to Omaha for what would be the first time since 1999, meanwhile Auburn is trying to get back for the first time since 2022 after ending a drought since 1997 back in 2019.

It should be an exciting postseason across the South as teams try to win what is one of the most exciting brackets in sports and earn their way to college baseball immortality.
