Alabama Steals 4 Star TE from Ohio State

Nick Saban has had a busy couple of weeks since losing out on Peter Woods to Clemson and having fans and even some media wonder aloud if he was losing touch with today’s recruits. The latest development, after adding Caleb Downs and Richard Young over the last week, is a big one.

Ty Lockwood, a four star tight end from Thompson Station, Tennessee, ranked as the 9th overall tight end prospect in the class of 2023, had been committed to Ohio State for nearly a full year. But when Alabama came calling in July, Lockwood elected to de-commit and join the Crimson Tide

Lockwood is listed at 6’5″ and 225 pounds and is described as having superior athleticism and will be used in multiple roles, both pass catching and blocking wise. One thing is for certain. Anyone suggesting Nick Saban was “out of touch” with today’s recruits looks pretty foolish here a few weeks after the Woods commitment.
