Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide secured an absolutely massive commitment from the No. 2 ranked offensive tackle in the nation. Kadyn Proctor of Southeast Polk High School in Runnells, Iowa had been committed to the Hawkeyes since June, but momentum had built over the past couple of weeks for him to flip his commitment.
After visiting Oregon, and last weekend, Alabama, Proctor elected to change his decision just one day before the early signing period and come to Tuscaloosa. For an Alabama team that loses a ton of depth and talent along the line mostly due to the transfer portal, this is a huge get. Proctor could come in and contribute at tackle immediately opposite JC Latham, who started at right tackle this year. Tyler Steen, who started at left tackle, will be in the NFL Draft.
Proctor is the 10th ranked recruit in the nation and the fourth five star for Nick Saban in the 2023 class, joining playmaking safety Caleb Downs, pass rusher Keon Keeley, and running back Justice Haynes. The Crimson Tide add to an already spectacular class, which was at No. 1 in the country even before the commitment of Proctor. He becomes the 20th ESPN 300 commit in the 2023 class and the 16th in the top 150. Stay tuned, as Alabama may not be done just yet with the signing period beginning tomorrow.
