High school football season is officially BACK on the Gulf Coast, and the fourth week of the year brought some very exciting action to the area as teams got back on the field with a great number of them continuing play in their respective regions.
Every week during the season, Pigskin Pete and his crew on the Friday night Joe Bullard Chevrolet Scoreboard show select an athlete from one of the teams that we cover and name them the Bryant Bank Player of the Week for their outstanding performance and helping their team to get the victory.
This week, the crew picked Vigor quarterback Sammy Dunn as the honoree after his huge performance in the Wolves’ thrilling victory over UMS Wright. Dunn completed 21 of 29 passes for 299 yards and 3 touchdowns as the No. 1 team in the state in 5A moved to 4-0 and 2-0 in region play.
Dunn hs quarterbacked Vigor to a ton of success over the last two years, and the win over the Bulldogs was just the latest example. It’s going to be quite the showdown next month when undefeated Williamson hosts the Wolves and the two talented squads battle for region supremacy.
In the meantime, head coach Renardo Jackson and the Wolves will keep trying to take things one game at a time and get ready for another challenge this week against Citronelle.
Congratulations to Dunn and the entire Vigor team team on taking home this week’s version of the prestigious award!
