South Alabama transfer quarterback Carter Bradley threw three touchdown, a pair to Jalen Wayne as the Jaguars opened with season with an easy 48-7 rout of Nicholls State Saturday night at Hancock Whitney Stadium.
Bradley, transferring from Toledo was named the Jaguars start following South Alabama’s second scrimmage of fall camp, was 17-25 for 260 yds. His two touchdown passes to Wayne were for 52 & 37 yards. Bradley’s third touchdown was an 18-yard pass was to true freshman and former McGill-Toolen running back Braylon McReynolds.
As explosive as the Jaguars offense was racking up 400 yards of total offense, the defense was just as impressive. The defense allowed 142 yards, with just 60 coming in the in the 1st Half. They pitched a shutout for three quarters and didn’t allow Nicholls to cross midfield until the 2nd Half.
Another transfer had impressive debut for the Jaguars. Coming in from junior college, La’Damian Webb ran 18 times for 98 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
South Alabama begins the season 1-0 and will play the next two games on the road. Heading to Mount Pleasant, Michigan to play Central Michigan before lining up against UCLA in the Rose Bowl. The Jaguars next home game is September 24 vs Louisiana Tech.
