The Gulf Coast has two state champions in boys soccer this season! The Daphne boys won in class 7A by defeating Huntsville by a score of 3-1 to repeat as state champions after defeating Oak Mountain in the state championship last season.
Bayside Academy also continued their dominant run in class 4A, winning their FOURTH straight state championship by defeating Westbrook Christian. It was the Admirals fifth overall state championship.
Bayside defeated Westbrook by a score of 4-0 to continue their dominant run in 4A. They led just 1-0 at halftime and a dominant second half secured the title.
Jamie Ferguson, head coach of Bayside, has led the program for a 18 seasons, while Daphne head coach Heath Burt took back over for Ruben Risco after a sudden coaching change for the Trojans early in the season.
Daphne had to fight back from a 1-0 deficit on Huntsville’s home turf, with the game being played at John Hunt Park in Huntsville.
Both programs will look to continue their dominance next season, with Bayside Academy now looking for an unbelievable five-straight titles in 4A and Daphne trying to 3-peat in 7A.
