Every week on the Tobias & Comer Coaches’ Corner, Mark and Lee will talk to a local area high school coach to get the scoop on what’s going on with their team, how our local schools are faring on their respective pushes to bring Blue Maps back to the Gulf Coast, and everything in between.
You can catch all of it right here on WNSP.com or live during The Opening Kickoff.
In this week’s edition, we caught up with Saraland baseball head coach Brett Boutwell amid a strong start 7-3 start for the Spartans and coming off a huge win against Mary G. Montgomery.
“We are starting to swing the bats the last five or six games better than we started the season, and hoping we can keep it going tonight [against Bryant],” Boutwell said. “We’re still working on shoring up the back end of our bullpen, but have a couple of kids coming back from injury who we hope are going to help with that.”
With games coming up against Bryant, Blount, Baldwin County and Gulf Shores, it’s going to be an interesting few weeks for the program as they try to keep the hot streak up and get back to the playoffs.
