Talent doesn’t excuse attitude

Baker Mayfield is getting really good at sincere apologies.
But at what point does he decide to Tighten Up and not let his immaturity and selfish attitude overshadow his immense talent and the his team?
The apologies are getting old. Especially after the obscene gesture he directed at the Kansas bench and their fans Saturday.
Kansas!
You don’t trash talk the worst Power 5 team in the country, even if you were disrespected on the coin toss. Even if you were taunted and prodded by the Jayhawks all day.
This is not a simple case of demonstrating poor sportsmanship. It could also be a factor when voters are deciding a tight race for which teams make the College Football Playoff and who wins the Heisman Trophy.
Most fans forgave Mayfield for his offseason run-in with Fayetteville (Arkansas) police.
Many will forgive his latest outburst. But at some point he has to decide to Tighten Up.
