St. Luke’s Falls in State Championship Game

MOBILE, AL – St. Luke’s Episcopal School fought to the end in a 41-38 loss to Lanett High School in the Class 2A State Championships for boys basketball.

After trailing 24-17 at halftime, St. Luke’s went on a 13-6 run to take a 30-29 lead late in the third quarter. With less than three minutes to go in the game, Lanett led 39-38 and held St. Luke’s scoreless for the final minutes of action.

St. Luke’s senior swingman Mark Wilcox Jr. led the Wildcats with 13 points and 14 rebounds in the game. Lanett forward Emmanuel Littles was named the Wilson Star of the Game for his 13 points and 10 rebounds.

St. Luke’s outrebounded Lanett 34-32, but the Panthers had the edge in points in the paint, putting up 24 to St. Luke’s 18.

In other high school basketball action, McGill-Toolen Catholic High School is set to play against Mountain Brook in the Class 7A State Championship game Saturday at 5:45 p.m. The game will be streamed on Path to the Playoffs on YouTube, which you can watch HERE.
