South Alabama Softball Travels to West Virginia to Take On Marshall

The South Alabama Jaguars are taking a road trip to Huntington, West Virginia to go up against the Marshall Thundering Herd.

The Jags are 26-19 on the season with an impressive 10-5 in Sun Belt Conference play. The last time the Jags were out, they took the series against the Georgia State Panthers behind strong pitching performances.

Sydney Scapin could not be stopped on the mound this past weekend against Georgia State as she gave up just four hits, three walks and she struck out 13 batters in 10 innings pitched.

Olivia Branstetter had herself a great weekend too as she went 5-for-11, and she was a home run away from the cycle on Sunday. Branstetter also flashed the leather as well by making great defensive plays at third base.

The Thundering Herd are at the top of the Sun Belt Conference standings as they are 13-2 in the league, and are 32-10 overall. Marshall is also on a nine-game winning streak. They are led by sophomore Sydni Burko who is hitting .412 with 54 hits and 16 home runs.

South Alabama is tied with Southern Miss for third in the Sun Belt, who they will play next weekend in Hattiesburg.

This matchup will help better shape up who is going to take the crown for the Sun Belt regular season champions.
