South Alabama Men’s Basketball Uses Hot Start to Prevail over Buffalo

South Alabama started off red hot and led almost wire-to-wire as it lit up the Mitchell Center with new Mardi Gras uniforms and their play on the court.

South Alabama had a new look on Saturday with some Mardi Gras inspired uniforms. The Jaguars swapped the classic navy and red colors with purple and gold, and the team showed up and showed out.

The Jaguars swept the MAC-SBC Challenge with an 81-69 victory over the Buffalo Bulls where they shot 53% from the field. Adam Olsen bounced back in a big way for the Jags with 23 points and 4 three pointers. Jayden Cooper continued his great play as of late with 16 points and 3 three pointers.

South Alabama led by as many as 30 points in the second half before Buffalo hit multiple three pointers towards the end of the game to chip away at the deficit.

Overall, the Jags had five players finish with at least 10 points. The Jags improved to 17-7 on the year, while Buffalo fell to 14-10.

The Jags will return to action this Thursday on the road against Southern Miss.
