South Alabama Men’s Basketball Never Trails in ULM Rout Behind Strong First Half

The South Alabama Jaguars win in dominating fashion against ULM 89-54 with the help of Adam Olsen’s career night as they put themselves in first place in the Sun Belt Conference standings.

The Jags got up early, and never looked back as they were leading 42-14 at halftime. This was the fewest points that the Jags had allowed in a half the whole season.

The Jaguars locked up the Warhawks as they held ULM to 29% shooting from the field and 22% from 3-point range. In the first half, ULM shot a staggering 15% from the field and 5% from beyond the arc.

Olsen finished with a career-high 29 points and eight 3-pointers along with five rebounds. Chaze Harris added 15 points while going 7 of 8 from the foul line, and Jayden Cooper tacked on 14 points.

Randy Brady had an efficient night shooting 4 of 5 from the field with nine points, and had an impressive night on the glass as well with a team-high eight rebounds.

The story of the night goes to Maxwell Land as he made a 3-pointer late in the game to score his first points in a game since November 2023. The sixth-year senior has had back-to-back season-ending injuries that have derailed his time here at South Alabama.

Land’s teammates, head coach Richie Riley and the entire Mitchell Center were jumping for joy as that shot reached the bottom of the net.

South Alabama is now in a four-way tie for first place in the Sun Belt Conference. The Jags will be at home for the regular season finale Friday against Southern Miss before heading off to the Sun Belt Conference tournament in Pensacola next week.
