No reason another running back shouldn’t star at Alabama A-Day

Six of the last seven Alabama A-Day games have ended with a running back being named MVP.

So why not go ahead and make the bold prediction that freshman sensation Najee Harris is going to keep the streak alive this year?

Recent past winners include Damien Harris, Trent Richardson, Mark Ingram and T.J. Yeldon. In fact, Yeldon won the award after all three of his A-Day games, including 2012, when he should have still been a senior at Daphne High.

The same is true of Najee Harris, who has done nothing but impress since becoming an early enrollee in Tuscaloosa.
As good as Yeldon, Ingram, Richardson and Damien Harris were, none were as highly recruited as Najee Harris.

And, unlike fellow early enrollee Brian Robinson, he will have the benefit of running with the second-team offense against the second-team defense.

Spring games are made for overhype. So there’s no reason why the highest-ranked running back to ever sign with Alabama shouldn’t be the brightest star on Saturday.
