The Atlanta Braves held off the Pittsburgh Pirates for a 2-1 win Monday night. Combined with the New York Mets 4-2 loss to the New Yankees, the Braves pull within 3 games of the Mets in the National League East.
Jake Odorizzi, picking up his first win as a Braves starter, gave up one run while striking out seven in 6IP. Michael Harris II provided all of offense the Braves needed with a 2R HR in the 5th.
The Braves take on the Pirates again tonight, while the Mets have another matchup at Yankee stadium. The Mets pulled ace Jacob deGrom from the start and will have Taijuan Walker going up against Frankie Montas, while the Braves have ace Max Fried going up against JT Brubaker.
With a win tonight and a Mets loss, the Braves can pull within two games of the division lead.
