The Biggest and Baddest. Talladega Superspeedway will host the NASCAR Playoffs this weekend in Lincoln, AL.
All 3 National Series will race at the 2.66 mile track beginning with the Craftsman Truck Series on Friday, October. 17 at 3pm. The Truck Series race will be aired on local FOX affiliates. Corey Heim is the series leader and already locked into the Championship 4 race in Phoenix. The next 3 drivers above the cutline are Tyler Ankrum, Daniel Hemric, and Rajah Caruth. However, Talladega is known for madness and Layne Riggs, Snowball Derby Winners Ty Majeski and Kaden Honeycutt and South Alabama Alum Grant Enfinger are looking to make something happen as they remain alive for now in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Playoffs.
The NASCAR Xfinity Series will follow with a Saturday Matinee with the Green Flag waving at 3pm. Connor Zilisch was leading on the last lap of the Ag-Pro 300 in the spring before crashing and creating a caution that would give Austin Hill the win. Zilisch then went on an impressive run and stands at 10 wins on the year. He is the overwhelming favorite to win the Xfinity Series playoffs. The Race will be aired on the Gulf Coast CW.
On Sunday, the stars come out for the NASCAR Cup Series YellaWood 500. Penske Drivers Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney who won the last 2 championships in the Sport are both in must win mode over the next two weeks. Denny Hamlin who is still chasing his first championship is already locked into the Championship 4 with a win at Las Vegas last week.
Kyle Larson is the points leader followed by Christopher Bell and Chase Briscoe above the cutline. William Byron and Chase Elliot also remain in the Cup Series Playoffs but will need to gain ground this weekend following unfortunate showings at Las Vegas.
The Cup Series race will air at 1 p.m. Sunday on NBC. You can follow live social media coverage all weekend on the WNSP X/Twitter Page.
