AJ McCarron is one of the most decorated quarterbacks in not just Crimson Tide history, but in the short history of the now defunct XFL.

McCarron was named MVP of the XFL in its final season with the St. Louis Battlehawks, helping the team to an 8-2 record via a completion percentage of nearly 70 along with 24 touchdowns to just six interceptions.

At the conclusion of the XFL season in spring, McCarron signed with the Cincinnati Bengals, where he spent the 2023 season and even appeared in two games in week 14 and week 18.

Earlier this week, however, McCarron was released from the Bengals with many speculating that he would be signing with a UFL team.

The UFL, a league featuring a merger between the USFL and XFL, retained teams from both leagues and McCarron’s former squad was one of them.

On Friday, the team announced that they are bringing McCarron back, and he will now get an opportunity once again to be a starting quarterback.

The new UFL is going to kick off on March 30th with a game between the reigning two-time USFL champion Birmingham Stallions and the reigning XFL champion Arlington Renegades.
