Malzahn is all in on 2017 Tigers

Gus Malzahn was in Tampa Thursday to kick off the Auburn Ambush, the offseason tour of Auburn Clubs. It used to be that Mobile, Montgomery, Birmingham and Huntsville were regular stops on the annual tour, but this year only Tampa, Dallas, Florence and Alexander City made the cut.

Thursday night’s message from Malzahn came across loud of clear: The fifth-year coach is all in on the 2017 Tigers. Malzahn is doing absolutely nothing to temper expectations for his team.

He pointed out Thursday night that Auburn has more returning starters than at any time in the last 12 years.

He gushed about the depth at quarterback.

Of this year’s team he said “They just have that feel like successful teams have and we’ve got good leadership.”

All that sounds like a recipe for success. It also sounds like Malzahn isn’t worried about giving critics ammunition if there is the first sign of trouble.
