Former McGill-Toolen standout and Texas Rangers outfielder Bubba Thompson made headlines last year when he announced he was retiring from professional baseball and returning to college to play quarterback for South Alabama.
Though Thompson did not appear in a game for the Jaguars, he did spend a year in the program gearing up again as a quarterback since last playing for the Yellow Jackets on the 2016 7A state title team. Now, the 27-year-old is transferring to Division II West Florida as a quarterback and will try to win the starting job.
