High school football is officially back on the Gulf Coast!
Every week on the Pigskin Pete Scoreboard show, our Friday night crew will be naming the Joe Bullard Team/Coach of the Week, given to the team and coach that had the best performance of the week in the face of adversity in our coverage area across the Gulf Coast.
This week on our second Friday night of the season, the Pigskin crew awarded the honor to the Theodore Bobcats and head coach Steve Mask after their huge victory over the Spanish Fort Toros on the road coming off a heartbreaking thriller against Baker in week one that ended the wrong way.
Mask led his team to a 28-17 win over the Toros to get region play started in one of the toughest regions in the state off to an amazing start ahead of their home opener this week against McGill-Toolen.
Last year, Mask’s squad did not have a great year, going 5-5 including 4-4 in the region to miss the playoffs after a 7-3 record in his first season two years ago. Now, taking down one of the best teams in 6A to start region play sets the Bobcats up to establish themselves as a prime contender.
If Theodore can take down McGill as well as Baldwin County next week, it’s going to set up an epic showdown a few weeks from now against St. Paul’s.
Congratulations to the Theodore Bobcats and head coach Steve Mask on being named this week’s Joe Bullard Chevrolet Team/Coach of the Week and best of luck the rest of the way in their 2025 season!
