Joe Bullard Chevrolet Team/Coach of the Week: Blount

High school football is in full swing on the Gulf Coast, with the regular season flying by every single week!

Every week on the Joe Bullard Chevrolet Pigskin Pete Scoreboard show, our Friday night crew will be naming the Joe Bullard Team/Coach of the Week, given to the team and coach that had the best performance of the week in the face of adversity in our coverage area across the Gulf Coast.

This week on our tenth Friday night of the season, the honor went to the Blount Leopards and coach Ramon Nelson after their very impressive victory over St. Paul’s on Friday night by a score of 34-28 in 6A Region 1.

For the Leopards, it was only their second region victory of the season after defeating Murphy earlier this season, and the win brings them to just 2-7 on the season. They are not in the playoff picture in what is one of the toughest regions in the state, however this was a victory nobody saw coming and one to which Blount earns their biggest win of the Ramon Nelson era, potentially going back even beyond that as well.

The Leopards follow it up with another brutal test to end the regular season this week against Theodore, but it’s safe to say a win like this over a program like St. Paul’s could carry a ton of momentum over into next season.

Congratulations to the Blount Leopards and head coach Ramon Nelson on being named this week’s Joe Bullard Chevrolet Team/Coach of the Week and best of luck the rest of the way in their 2025 season!
