Five Alabama Teams to NCAA Baseball Regionals as Tide, Tigers Earn National Seeds

Baseball fans in the Yellowhammer State have some serious action to look forward to this postseason after the NCAA Regional fields were announced over the weekend and feature numerous schools from the state of Alabama.

Most notably, the Auburn Tigers became the only team in the nation to earn a top-four overall seed by earning the No. 4 national seed, meaning they will get the chance to host all the way through super regionals with the chance to get to the College World Series.

The Tigers are hosting in the regional round for the fourth time in the last five years.

As for the Alabama Crimson Tide, they earned a top-eight national seed (No. 7) as well for the first time in 20 years, giving Tuscaloosa the chance to host regionals as well as super regionals should Alabama advance to that point.

Beyond just the Tide and Tigers though, three more teams from the state are headed to the postseason. The Troy Trojans are headed back to the regional round for the first time since 2023, headed to the Gainesville Regional as the No. 3 seed to take on No. 2 seed Miami, No. 1 seed Florida, and No. 4 seed Rider.

It is the 10th ever regional appearance for the program, and a trip to the super regionals would be the first in their history.

Jacksonville State also earned a spot into the field, headed to the Hattiesburg Regional as the No. 3 seed hosted by Southern Miss and joined by No. 2 seed Virginia and No. 4 seed Little Rock.

Finally, Alabama State — who captured the SWAC Championship over the weekend at Rickwood Field in Birmingham — heads to the postseason for the first time since 2022 and will not have to go far. The Hornets will head to the Tuscaloosa Regional as the No. 4 seed to take on Alabama and are joined by No. 2 seed Oklahoma State and No. 3 seed South Carolina Upstate.

It should be a tremendous weekend of college baseball coming up, and the entire state of Alabama will be watching.
