It’s playoff time on the Gulf Coast, and the first round of the playoffs with the regular season now wrapped up[ brought some very exciting action to the area and aroind the state as teams got back on the field with everything on the line and now facing one-game seasons.
Every week during the season, Pigskin Pete and his crew on the Friday night Joe Bullard Chevrolet Scoreboard show select an athlete from one of the teams that we cover and name them the Bryant Bank Player of the Week for their outstanding performance and helping their team to get the victory.
This week, the honor went to St. Michael Cardinals running back Noah Moss after his massive first half performance against Pike County. In one of the most incredible stat lines of the season, Moss carried the ball just 16 times for 368 yards and six touchdowns in what wound up a 49-21 victory.
Of those six scores, five of them came in the first half for Moss in a game that was largely over before it started for St. Michael.
The turnaround is quick though, and Moss and the Cardinals offense must turn the page right away to round two and what will be a road trip to a stingy Pleasant Grove team fresh off a huge win in the first round over Booker T. Washington.
St. Michael has their sights set on some pretty massive goals this fall and look like a prime Blue Map contender in 4A. If Moss keeps running the ball like this, they might do just that.
Congratulations to Moss and the entire Cardinals team on the distinct honor and best of luck the rest of the way this postseason!
