Bryant Bank Player of the Week: Kamron Smith, Mary G. Montgomery

High school football season is ripping by on the Gulf Coast, and the eighth week of the year brought some very exciting action to the area as teams got back on the field with a great number of them continuing play in their respective regions.

Every week during the season, Pigskin Pete and his crew on the Friday night Joe Bullard Chevrolet Scoreboard show select an athlete from one of the teams that we cover and name them the Bryant Bank Player of the Week for their outstanding performance and helping their team to get the victory.

This week, the honor went to Mary G. Montgomery running back Kamron Smith after his massive game in their thrilling 28-21 victory over Fairhope. Smith got the ball 26 times on the ground and ran for 183 yards and a touchdown along with two huge receptions for 75 yards and another score.

The Vikings have taken full and complete control of 7A Region 1, moving to 8-0 on the year overall and 5-0 within region play. Next week brings their biggest game of the season in a rivalry showdown with Baker, coming off a huge win of their own over Foley.

MGM appears to be moving closer and closer to locking up yet another region title as head coach Zach Golson continues to build an elite program in Semmes.

Congratulations to Smith and the entire Vikings team on taking home this week’s version of the prestigious award!
