Bryant Bank Player of the Week: Jamison Roberts, Saraland

High school football season is officially BACK on the Gulf Coast, and the third week of the year brought some very exciting action to the area as teams got back on the field with a great number of them beginning play in their respective regions.

Every week during the season, Pigskin Pete and his crew on the Friday night postgame show select an athlete from one of the teams that we cover and name them the Bryant Bank Player of the Week for their outstanding performance and helping their team to get the victory.

This week, the postgame crew gave the honor to Saraland Spartans junior quarterback Jamison Roberts after his incredible performance to help his team grab a huge win over Gulf Shores. Roberts accounted for 360 all purpose yards and five total touchdowns in the 43-14 victory.

“Jamison has improved so much,” Saraland head coach Jeff Kelly said on WNSP. “He’s a first-year guy, he got some playing time last year and led us to a couple wins, but he’s playing at a high level right now and leading us to wins.”

Saraland is off to another huge start, already 3-0 and having scored over 40 points in their last two games. This week is going to be their biggest game yet though, a massive road challenge at Spanish Fort in a rivalry game that they have largely dominated lately.

The Toros have not defeated the Spartans since 2020, and the last two years have been fairy lopsided blowouts. Roberts will try to continue that streak this week, and if he keeps putting up performances like last week, Saraland is going to continue to be very tough to beat.

Congratulations to Roberts and the Spartans team on taking home this week’s version of the prestigious award!
