Best Super Bowl LX Commercial? Sound of Mobile Staff Picks

Every year, companies go all out to have what the public considers “the best” Super Bowl ad during the big game. With these spots going for 8 million on the rate card, it’s important for your spot to hit the mark. We asked around the offices of WNSP and 92Zew for our staff’s favorite or most memorable ad from this year’s big game. Below are the choices and reasons behind them.

Mark Heim – Xfinity (Jurassic Park)

“Xfinity’s Jurassic Park spot kept things light with the right hint of nostalgia without going ver the top on celebrity sightings. Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and Sam Neill returned to their iconic roles and hit just right. The spot was fun, creative and a blast from the past.”

Lee Shirvanian – Dunkin’ (Good Will Hunting)

“I’m not going to give a real sophisticated answer like it made me want to go eat donuts because I don’t. But it was really cute, a good spin on a great movie.”

Creg Stephenson – Dunkin’ (Good Will Hunting)

“The Dunkin ad pushed all the right buttons for 90’s nostalgia, though admittedly the digital de-aging of Jason Alexander and Matt LeBlanc was a little unnerving.”

Michael Brauner – None

“I’m not a Super Bowl commercial guy. None of them do anything for me. I went and grabbed a rib every commercial break.”

Jaret Bates – Lay’s (Last Harvest)

“A potato commercial cut the onions. This ad had it all. The song choice was great, the ad’s concept pulled at heartstrings. A shoutout to America’s farmers. This ad hit all the right notes for me.”

Pablo Foster (92Zew) – Instacart (Bananas)

“Benson Boone and Ben Stiller doing flips and singing about bananas. Doesn’t get any better. My wife was nearly falling out of her chair from laughter.”

Matt McCoy (92Zew) – Bud Light (Keg Roll)

“The combination of the entire wedding part diving down the hill in slow motion with Post Malone and Peyton Manning in the mix, all put to Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You was hilarious! Especially at the end when the other guy says “This was not necessary there is a trail right over there.”

Gene Murrell (92Zew)  – Slept through it.

“A boring game and boring commercials. Bored me to sleep”

Collective Honorable Mention: Budweiser

Wow. That screamed America. Beer, Horses, Birds. Budweiser, the Clydesdales, a Bald Eagle. Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Free Bird blaring through the speakers. SO. MUCH. FUN. Budweiser wins the award for “Most Patriotic” and “Most On-Brand”. They knocked it out of the park with this year’s ad!

Collective staff pick for WORST ad: Coin-base

For 95% of the commercial the audience had no idea what it was advertising. Did we all jam out a little bit? Yes. However, it misses the mark and won’t go down as a memorable commercial for the brand. Felt like they squeezed out the 8 million for their spot and forgot they had to submit a commercial until the last minute and just sent a clipped down karaoke video from YouTube.
